The design point of view I was working from here was desert-inspired: the warmth, texture, and patterning of the southwest brought indoors, but rendered elevated enough to hold up as a proper primary suite. I wanted the room to read as desert through the way materials behave in light, not through anything overtly themed.

Texture carries the desert reference more than any single object does. Warm woods across the built-ins and floors, soft layered textiles in sandstone neutrals, and a subtle geometric feature wall behind the bed give the room the tactile quality of the landscape. The pattern reads as architecture rather than motif, which is what keeps the suite in elevated territory.

The fireplace is treated as its own architectural moment. I clad it in marble to give it a more stately quality and set it visually apart from the rest of the room, so it holds its own as a second focal point after the bed and gives the suite its retreat feel.

The functional problem was clothing storage. The built-ins in the entry predated the project and weren't giving the suite enough usable capacity on their own, so I added a woven-front sideboard as the central piece to carry real drawer storage into the room. From there, I styled the existing built-ins with pieces that lean into the desert direction, ceramics, sculptural objects, warm woods, so they stopped reading as pure storage and started doing double duty as part of the design story.
