Interior Design + Marketing Strategy

Interior Design + Marketing Strategy
I'm Lauren Simon, and Studio Lou Interiors is my solo practice, based in Phoenix. Interior design and marketing don't usually live under the same roof. I've spent 8+ years in interior design and home goods, with formal training in both design and marketing. Homeowners come to me when they want a professionally designed space without the full-service overhead. Design firms come to me for marketing strategy from someone who doesn't need the industry explained to her.

Most advice about design assumes you're spending a lot. And most advice about marketing assumes you have a team. I don't work from either assumption, because I think good design should be accessible to anyone at any budget, and marketing a design practice should be doable by the person running it.

My clients are homeowners figuring out one room at a time and design firms run by one or two people who wear every hat. Both are underserved by an industry that's mostly built for someone else, and both are gaps I think I can actually help close.

On the design side, that means e-design that is thoughtful and well-sourced, not templated. Working virtually gives clients real flexibility and lets me take on projects nationwide instead of only the ones within driving distance. What I focus on most is home office design, as someone who works out of one. It's the room I think about the hardest and the one I have the most opinions about.

On the marketing side, that means strategy for design firms from someone who doesn't need the industry explained to her. Marketing for a design client is not an impulse buy. It's a relationship built on trust, which means positioning and clarity matter more than volume or reach. If a firm hasn't figured out who it's really for and why that matters, no amount of content will close the gap. That's the work I care about most, and the systems around it are what keep it going.

I'm based in Phoenix and work with homeowners and design firms nationwide.
