In this older Pennsylvania home, we were tasked with reimagining a single open-concept room into a hardworking haven for a young family. The space had to serve as a welcoming entry, a relaxing family room, and a dedicated play area, all without feeling cluttered or chaotic. The family loved rich, Art Deco-inspired colors but wanted to maintain a relaxed, farmhouse feel.

Our solution was a design "blend" that grounded bold style in family-friendly function. We embraced the clients' love for color, using a deep navy sectional and rich mustard accents, but paired them with woven textures, country landscapes, and warm natural woods to keep the space feeling relaxed. This balance of sophisticated color and rustic materials creates a home that is both elevated and entirely unpretentious.

Functionally, we created clear zones for each activity. A "drop zone" with a bench and hooks provides order at the entryway. The main family room is anchored by a plush sectional and cozy rug, while the adjacent kids' area is defined by low, accessible shelving and child-sized furniture. This layout gives the five-year-old her own space to create, all while remaining connected to the heart of the home.

As with all our projects, the process began with a collaborative mood board to nail down this unique style. A detailed furniture plan was developed to optimize the flow, and 2D and 3D renderings ensured every element came together perfectly. The result i
